— Foxy, Step Closer
|
Foxy the Pirate is an animatronic fox and a minor character in the Fazbear Frights book series, the main antagonist in Fazbear Frights: Step Closer, and later appears as a minor character in the epilogue of Fazbear Frights: Blackbird.
He is an alternate counterpart of Foxy the Pirate from Five Nights at Freddy's and the Decommissioned animatronic of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
Appearance[]
As his name suggests, Foxy is a large, animatronic fox with crimson, tattered fur. He has yellow eyes, red eyebrows, and three strings of hair from the top of his head. He has a hook for his right hand and his left hand has been worn down to the endoskeleton. He also bears an eye patch that is folded over his right eye, although he is usually seen with it above his eye rather than covering it. Unlike the stereotypical fox, Foxy doesn't have a tail.
Foxy wears brown linen pants that are especially shredded at the legs. He appears to be damaged, as parts of his machinery are exposed. It can clearly be seen that both his legs, with the exception of his upper thighs, and his left hand is completely bare, exposing the metal endoskeleton underneath. His chest is ripped in various places, showing the endoskeleton beneath, and his arms and stomach are torn apart as well. He also seems to have a slightly droopy left eyelid.
Like all of the other Fazbear characters, Foxy has a set of teeth. Foxy's teeth, however, appear to be the sharpest out of all the animatronics, being similar to those of an actual canine, while the other animatronics' teeth resemble human-like dentures or herbivorous teeth. It's also notable that, in keeping with the pirate motif, he has several golden teeth and also appears to have some teeth missing, though this may be due to him needing repairs. He also has a hanging jaw; this is also likely due to him needing repairs. His ears are articulated, thus able to move back and forth and left to right.
His upper jaw muzzle is speckled on the sides with black dots, indicating beard stubble or translucent whiskers. It is possible that these whiskers may have simply been removed due to disrepair.
History[]
Five Nights at Freddy's Novel Series[]
The Silver Eyes[]
Before Fritz was Foxy, he was a young boy who attended his friend's birthday party at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. At the party, the five children were visited by Spring Bonnie, one of the two retired animatronic suits from an older location, Fredbear's Family Diner (actually William Afton wearing the Spring Bonnie suit).
He lured them into a back room where he brutally murdered them and hid their bloodied corpses inside the 4 animatronic mascots, plus one in the other retired suit. The children's spirits remained trapped in the animatronics.
In 1995, The family restaurant Charlie's father once owned now an incomplete shopping mall has been built in the restaurant's place, but upon further investigation, the friends discover the restaurant is still standing, and the mall has been built around it.
After breaking in, Charlotte and her friends explore the abandoned restaurant and find that the animatronic mascot characters - Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, and Chica the Chicken, which were built by Charlie's father - have been left behind.
The next day, Charlie and her friends attend the scholarship's launch ceremony at their old school, where Michael's parents give a speech about him. Afterwards, John confesses to Charlie that he remembers seeing a strange person in a yellow Freddy costume at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza on the day of Michael's death, and he now suspects this person was Michael's killer.
That night, Charlie, Jessica, John, and Carlton return to the restaurant, accompanied by their friends Lamar, Marla, and her 11-year-old brother Jason.
They discover the still-functioning control panel which makes the robots move, and Charlie finds a fourth robot - Foxy the Pirate Fox - which cuts her arm with its hook. The next morning, haunted by recent events, Charlie tells John that before moving to Hurricane her father owned another restaurant called Fredbear's Family Diner, which featured two performing robots, yellow versions of Freddy Fazbear and Bonnie the Rabbit.
William reveals that the robots are possessed by the vengeful ghosts of his victims, and boasts that they will hunt down and kill any intruders. The group tries to hide in a party room, but all four robots corner them.
After Golden Freddy appears, which Charlie realizes is possessed by Michael's ghost. Golden Freddy allows them to leave and Chief Burke arrives to search for the missing Officer Dunn. William grabs Charlie by the back of her neck in the Spring Bonnie costume, but Charlie activates its spring locks, killing William.
As the robots drag William's corpse away, Chief Burke escorts everyone out of the mall. The friends go their separate ways, and before leaving Hurricane, Charlie visits her father's grave, remembering a happy day she had with him.
The Twisted Ones[]
After the events of the first book, Foxy is revealed to be deactivated along with the other withered animatronics in Clay Burke's boiler room. Although his original form is briefly mentioned by Charlie, Withered Foxy, along the Withered Animatronics come to help the others fight against Springtrap and his twisted abominations.
The Fourth Closet[]
Foxy himself doesn't make an appearance in The Fourth Closet, but his endoskeleton was melded into an amalgamation that William Afton used to get remnant from.
Fazbear Frights[]
Foxy, along with the other members of the main four, make small cameos throughout the various stories in Fazbear Frights. Foxy makes cameos in both Fetch and The New Kid, being found deactivated in abandoned pizzerias. Foxy is not given a major role until the first story of the fourth book.
Step Closer[]
Foxy was first spotted from his own discontinued stage by Chuck and Pete within Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Pete brought Chuck to the secret maintenance room where Foxy was being kept in an attempt to scare him but was spooked himself when Foxy began singing his pirate song. While Foxy isn't directly behind any of the things that happen to Pete over the course of the story, Chuck theorizes that he somehow cursed Pete with bad luck. Pete eventually decides to face Foxy once and for all, but on the rush to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, he is ran over by a truck and paralyzed.
As Pete ends up in hospital, unable to move or speak, he overhears doctors saying that his eyes and hand must be removed so that they can be transplanted on someone who needs them. He hears Foxy's music playing in his head as the doctors begin to remove his body parts. Chuck visits the pizzeria four weeks later to find Foxy, only to be greeted with silence.
What We Found[]
A disembodied Foxy arm is a minor antagonist in the third story of Fazbear Frights: Gumdrop Angel. Though it does not have sentience, it is briefly used as a weapon by Springtrap. He uses it to rip open a hole in the Pirate's Cove curtain to chase Hudson. When Hudson runs away, Springtrap doesn't chase him. Hudson notices Springtrap back on the wall he was pinned on, and the Foxy arm is gone.
Epilogue - Blackbird[]
Foxy is revealed to have been collected by The Stitchwraith. He is thrown into a trash compactor and his parts are used to create a new animatronic; the Agony.
Epilogue - The Cliffs[]
Foxy's parts are sunk to the bottom of a lake, alongside the other parts of the Agony, never to be seen again.
Sea Bonnies[]
Foxy is mentioned as one of the protagonists of an in-universe book, Foxy and Bonnie on the High Seas.
Tales from the Pizzaplex[]

Trivia[]
- It was originally implied the endoskeleton with silver eyes was presumably Foxy's as mentioned in Silver Eyes, but the final novel, The Fourth Closet, reveals that it was Circus Baby's endoskeleton.
- Although Foxy doesn't physically appear in The Fourth Closet, it is revealed that he and the rest of the original animatronics were merged into Molten Freddy by William Afton's remnant.
